Google to launch new Nexus 7 in India next month
Asus, which manufactures Nexus 7 tablets for Google, is unlikely to be involved in the retail of Nexus 7 in India. The tablet will initially be sold by Google's retail arm through AndroidLand store in Noida (near Delhi) and Bangaluru.
Run jointly by Google and smartphone maker Spice, the two AndroidLand stores will start stocking the second-generation Nexus 7 tablet some time next month, sources said. Google has already confirmed on its official webpage the new model of Nexus 7 will be coming soon to India.
Apple's new iPhones 5S and 5C will also hit Indian stores on November 1. A November launch for both the second-generation Nexus 7 and the new iPhones will bode well for sales during the festive season in India.
Thus, the new Nexus 7 will come to India four months after its global unveiling. Its predecessor - the first generation Nexus 7 - had arrived in the country nine months after global launch. Google is also gearing up for global unveiling of the Nexus 5 smartphones soon.
Meanwhile, online retailers have started selling the current Nexus 7 model with major discounts. The 16GB Wi-Fi-only version is selling for Rs 9,999 on e-commerce websites, as compared to the official price of Rs 15,999. Its 32GB Wi-Fi variant can be purchased for Rs 13,499.

Google Gem
We recently heard that the new Google Nexus smart watch will be called the Google Gem, although it is not clear as yet on whether this is the devices final name or a code-name for the watch.
We previously heard that Google may make the Google Gem official on the 31st of October, the device is expected to be released at the same time as Android 4.4 Kit Kat.
According to a recent report, one of the main features of the Google Gem will be Google Now, and the watch is said to come with a number of Google Now features.
Google are apparently working on the device at the moment, before their official unveiling, and one of the things they are apparently focusing on is battery life.
The Google Gem is said to use Bluetooth 4.0 LE, which is designed to be more battery friendly, to communicate with your smartphone or tablet.
This is the second time that a launch date of the 31st of October for the Google Gem and Android 4.4 Kit Kat has been mentioned, so it could possibly be the correct release date for the device.
Google are also expected to launch the new Google Nexus 5 recently, we are expecting to hear more about the device tomorrow, as all the rumors we have heard have mentioned the 15th of October for the Nexus 5 announcement.
HTC unveils One Max phablet with 5.9-inch screen
Taiwanese smartphone maker HTC has unveiled its One Max phablet with a 5.9-inch display and a fingerprint scanner. The new device will compete against the likes of Samsung Galaxy Note 3, LG Optimus G2 and the upcoming Nokia phablet. The company has not revealed the price of the new model yet, but has announced that it will be launched in Asia and Europe in October and the US in November.
HTC One Max has a Full HD display with 368ppi pixel density. It has the same look as the One and One Mini smartphones, but has a removable back cover. The phablet is powered by a 1.7GHz quad-core Snapdragon 600 processor with 2GB RAM and runs on Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean) with Sense UI on top.On the back, One Max sports a 4MP UltraPixel camera. However, unlike the HTC One smartphone, this device does not have optical image stabilization. It comes with 16 and 32GB internal storage options and supports microSD cards up to 64GB. This phablet has dual BoomSound speakers and infrared blaster, but does not have Beats Audio sound enhancement technology.
The fingerprint scanner in HTC One Max is placed below the camera and can be used to unlock the device by swiping the finger over the sensor.
This is the second major phone to have a fingerprint scanner this year after Apple iPhone 5S . The first-ever smartphone to have a fingerprint scanner was Motorola Atrix.
